Collective redress experience from across Europe — collected and updated throughout the project.

🇦🇹 Austria

Our project partner Verbraucherschutzverein (VSV) is one of the most active Qualified Entities in the European Union. Since 2025, VSV has brought more than 470 proceedings under the representative actions framework (as of August 2026) — the vast majority injunctive actions against unlawful standard contract terms and unfair practices (fitness studios, banks, insurers, energy suppliers, telecoms), alongside redress actions brought on behalf of consumers, including the diesel-emissions cases against Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda and SEAT and claims against Netflix, Apple and Sky.

A particularly notable example is the cross-border collective action against Meta for infringements of the GDPR — one of the first large cross-border representative actions brought under Directive (EU) 2020/1828.
